MUST - HAVE SKINCARE
PRODUCTS FOR THE SUMMER
A year in isolation left many of us hungry to live life again, for the touch of loved ones, and for the enjoyment of real interactions. We spent the past year and a half more focused on survival rather than on how we looked or took care of ourselves. We weren’t thinking about how we’d look in that bikini, but rather in how we were going to provide for our families. As we approach this summer season, it’s important to maintain a healthy blend between self-care and the freedom of living: mentally and physically. Like Natura Bissé, I believe that skin has “its own expression, its own voice.”
Our thoughts affect our mind, body, and skin - often the most overlooked of the three. Our skin’s smarter than we think. It has the ability to pick up on stress and communicate some of the internal battles we face externally. When we’re stressed or sick, our skin doesn't know the difference between a stressful external trigger, your toxic internal thoughts, or a real-life threat. Your body automatically goes into a fight or flight mode of thinking. When you're stressed, your body releases chemicals that cause inflammation, which wreaks havoc on the skin. That stress can wind up taking the form of or causing flare-ups of acne, eczema, hives, rosacea, psoriasis, and alopecia.
Keeping your skin nourished, protected, and hydrated will help reduce inflammation and serve as a protectant against the damaging effects of stress. A healthy mind and a healthy skincare routine protect, enhance, and restore beauty.
Our skin’s a reflection of how we feel inside. It’s tied to our reactions, to what we radiate from within. I love this quote by Charles Swindoll: “Life is 10% about what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.” We can choose how to respond to situations, learning to pause and breathe. The effects of grounding ourselves in peace, freeing ourselves of past, toxic thinking patterns, and remaining in gratitude impact not only our mind but our skin as well.
I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite products below, including all different price points and functions.
It's important to pay attention to how your skin looks and feels, and it's time to listen! Like with anything, a routine change can do wonders, skin included. Just know, these products won’t be as effective without a healthy mindset or gut. They go hand-in-hand.
1. Barbara Sturm’s Molecular Cosmetics: The queen of all things inflammation, one of my new favorite skincare lines.
When I hear the word innovation, I think of Dr. Barbara Sturm. She took the science from her clinical research and orthopedic background into the field of aesthetics. Sturm's products target inflammation and stimulate healing, and they actually work. Dr. Sturm's products are non-toxic and extremely hydrating.
2. Natura Bissé:
Why I love these:
Diamond Well-Living Line - Honestly, the Diamond Well Living line just speaks to me. The products revolve around a celebration of not only our skin but our mind and bodies. Natura Bissé claims that this line is a Mosaic of textures, scents, pressures, and sensations, and they really mean it.
Diamond Well - Living - Body Scrub - This body scrub is made with Dead Sea Salt Crystals and a variety of ingredients designed to remove any impurities in the skin. It not only exfoliates but re-mineralizes your skin.
Diamond Well - Living Dry Oils - A collection of dry body oils that embody self-love. There are several different oils designed to enlighten any mood. You can choose a destressing oil, an energizing oil, a detoxing oil, and even a fitness oil. Each of these oils soothes the body without leaving a greasy residue on the skin. Trust me, they're incredible.
Diamond Well - Living Body Cream - This body cream is one of my favorites. It feels luscious, smells incredible, and is extremely hydrating. I usually mix in a few drops of the C + C Vitamin Self-Tan Drops, which adds a golden hue to your skin.
Inhibit Tensolift Neck Serum - I've always paid close attention to the skin on my neck, décolleté, and around my jawline. The skin on this area is thinner and produces less collagen. This means that the skin is fragile and prone to showing signs of aging. This neck serum has a concentrated formula that fights the appearance of wrinkles and loose skin.
Inhibit Tensolift Neck Cream - This neck cream complements the neck serum mentioned above. I always apply this cream after the serum, and the two together work to reduce signs of aging. The cream makes the skin radiant and feel lifted.
Natura Bissé C+C Vitamin Splash - I love Vitamin Splash. I usually use this before or after applying my products, and especially when in the sun. The C+C Vitamin Splash is a citrus mist that refreshes and replenishes the skin with Vitamin-C.
Diamond Cocoon Sheer Eye - This is an all-in-one eye serum that revitalizes and conceals fatigue. The serum provides a luminous hint of color and well, I'm obsessed!
Natura Bissé Cocoon Sheer - This is a hydrating cream with a beautiful hint of color that blends in with every skin tone.
Diamond Extreme Hand Cream - I'm always on the search for new hand creams, but I always find myself coming back to this one. The Diamond Extreme Hand Cream is the perfect balance of moisture, and it holds up throughout the day.
Why I love these:
These are two body products that I add to my body creams and sunblock. They target Aging, Cellulite, Dull and Fatigued Skin, Keratosis Pilaris, and Firming. The body oil and lotion really nourish the skin and helps any unruly area.
Why I love this:
All-time favorite! It provides daily, lightweight hydration and helps protect the skin from any environmental stressors.
Why I love this:
Medical Beauty Research Sunblock SPF 50 High Protection Cream is more than just a sunblock, it stimulates cell regeneration and doesn't leave any white residue. This one's a must!
Why I Love these:
Antioxidant Lip Repair- restores moisture and smooths lips. I love how gentle it exfoliates and smooths the texture of my lips. Apply before lip balm SPF for your choice.
CE Ferulic - I use this in the morning before serums, creams, and sunblock. One of my all-time favorites, love how it brightens, improves skin tone.
7. Elta:
Why I love this:
This creamy, long-lasting moisturizing sunscreen soothes and protects dry, chapped, and sun-exposed lips.
As you spend more time outdoors beneath the summer sun, make sure to actively protect yourself and your skin from the harmful rays. Enjoy the rest that comes with summer, with being able to experience life again around friends and family. Choose to be present in those moments, but choose to steward what you’ve been given well -- your family, your skin, your mind, and your lips!
